In the beginning conducting
Sunday School classes for children of Hindi Church congregation
was quite difficult since the children’s mind was not opened to
the Word of God and they found it difficult to understand the concept
of one God as they did not have a foundation in Christianity. Disciplining
them also took a lot of patience and effort and many a time I felt
like just giving up. However presently there are about 15 children
who come regularly and are showing great promise. There is a big
change in their behavior for the better, thanks to God. They understand
what is being taught and have learned to worship with praise songs,
sincerity and reverence to God. They are eager to take part in the
games and activities and so Sunday School is fun to them.
The English Church Sunday
School children are learning from Children Bible Ministries syllabus
using Flash Card, flannel graph etc. These are life changing lessons
concerning their daily life. Some of these children have been baptized
and in fact one of them is now taking part in the main Church Worship
Service. Some pray in tongues and some have a great passion to serve
God as pastors and leaders.
Recently, we have introduced
AWANA Ministry in our Sunday School with the help of 4 adult leaders.
AWANA needs a lot of team work. The children are divided into 4
teams Red, Blue, Yellow and Green. Additional visiting children
are just added to the team. The team spirit has made the children
more attentive and competitive to score marks. I tried disciplining
a child for many years but nothing worked but with the introduction
of AWANA this child has shown tremendous change. There is a specific
time for worship, gospel or lesson time with a syllabus and game
time. All the children of all ages sit together when scripture is
read and explained. Many of them try to follow on their Bibles the
lessons that are taught. It’s a pleasure to teach kids as they are
attentive, eager to learn and have a lot of questions to ask. They
never get bored and are great fun to be with.
I am thankful to God for making
the Sunday school a wonderful place for the kids. If for some reason
a class is postponed they are a little disappointed. I thank God
for His presence in the Children Sunday School and in the lives
of the teachers.
